Guard It

Spread the love

One-minute read.

To keep your heart pure, practice God’s law. Living a righteous life means learning what the Bible says, then actually doing it. Jesus told us which commands we should put into practice first and foremost:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12:30-31

To fulfill the Greatest Commandment, you’ll need to learn the rest of God’s law, as each one centers on healthy relationships. Putting scripture into practice will lead you on the path of abundant, fruitful relationships that bring joy to your life.

Guarding against the negative emotions of guilt, shame, condemnation, bitterness, and jealousy enables us to maintain soft hearts, ready to receive God’s love and then extend it to others.

Unfortunately, when we ruminate on the negative, we miss the positive. We must guard our hearts from drowning itself in negativity, allowing the Lord’s flow of light to access all areas of our soul. Thankfully, God has given us His Word to help keep our hearts pure.

Don’t beat yourself up for past mistakes; keep trying and don’t give up. Jesus doesn’t expect perfection; He wants your heart. Following Him will teach you how to keep it pure, guarding your inner being with His word.

Prayer:

Lord,
Thank You once again for Your Word that does so much for our lives. Although we don’t understand everything, we do trust You. Help us learn Your teachings, applying them to our lives and living entirely for You.
IJNIP. Amen
